A highly desirable original 1972 UK first pressing of Elephant's Memory's self-titled album, issued on Apple Records under catalogue number SAPCOR 22. This is one of the more fascinating non-Beatles releases from the Apple catalogue. Elephant's Memory became closely associated with John Lennon and Yoko Ono during the early 1970s, serving as their backing band during this period. The album itself was produced by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, who also contributed to the project, giving this release a particularly strong connection to the wider Beatles and Apple Records story. The original UK issue was released in November 1972 and carries the classic Apple label design. Original UK first pressings are identified by the matrix inscriptions on the runouts—Side 1: SAPCOR 22 A-1U and Side 2: SAPCOR 22 B-1U—along with the distinctive runout markings "DO THE DELTA PORKY" and "PECKIE TIME," which are associated with mastering engineer George "Porky" Peckham and serve as a particularly nice identifying feature of the original UK issue. The album is housed in its original unlaminated gatefold sleeve and, importantly, retains the original printed picture and lyric inner sleeve. Complete first-pressing copies with this original inner are much more appealing than examples where it has been lost or replaced. ⸻ Sleeve (VG+): The original gatefold sleeve remains structurally solid and displays very nicely. There is some light age-related handling, edge and corner wear visible, but no major structural damage. Overall a strong and presentable VG+ example. Inner Sleeve: Original printed picture and lyric inner sleeve included. Vinyl (EX): The vinyl retains a beautiful deep gloss and presents exceptionally cleanly overall. There is only minimal evidence of previous handling or play, with no significant scratches or distracting marks.
