Elkington & Co. European for Australian Royal Mail Co Silver Plate

This mid-Victorian silver plate butter knife was manufactured by Elkington & Co. for the European and Australian Royal Mail Company (operating 1856"1858). The piece features a scimitar-profile blade decorated with hand-engraved foliate scrolls, a stylized sea creature, and pierced openwork.
