Graduated in mathematics, she taught first and later served as a school principal. Passionate about art since she was young, she pursued studies that apparently distance her from this world, until she finally decides to fully embrace her passion. For many years she attends the “Libera Accademia” of master Paolo Raffa in her city and, at the same time, takes courses and master classes in various parts of Italy. The fundamental encounter with master Roberto Ferri brings her closer to a painting she had always aspired to. She then becomes passionate about sculpture, following master Mohammad Sazesh in his Carrara studio. She ultimately perfects her craft at the Academy of Art in Florence. In 2019 she was a signatory in Rome, along with 12 other artists, of the Manifesto of Effettismo, a painting current founded by master Franco Fragale. In 2020 she joined the International Academy of Modern Art in Rome A versatile artist, never conventional or repetitive, she rejects any predefined scheme, freely ranging from classical figurative to modern, from abstract to informal, from symbolism to conceptual. -- By Vittorio Sgarbi -- The task Elvira Sirio has set for herself is to create emotions. The shaping of matter into creatures and subjects from her imagination, with particular attention paid to the female world, leads us to speak of Metamorphosis. With sculpture half woman and half reptile we confront a magical being that celebrates the bond between woman and Mother Earth through a serpentine depiction which, for cultural reasons now rooted in common imagery, induces a certain discomfort. Change is linked to the divine (symbolized by the heterochromia of the eyes), but perceived as something sinister and not reassuring. Sirio is incredibly current: how is the woman perceived today and what powers does she have? Vittorio SGARBI
