2 emerald stud earrings / new Set in 925 sterling silver Total weight: 11.9 ct / 2.38 g 11.9 mm x 7.0 mm x 16.8 mm New and unworn Emerald is a dark- to light-green variety of the silicate mineral beryll with the chemical composition Al2Be3[Si6O18]. The color of emerald, whose range of variation extends from a dark blue-green to a light yellow-green, is caused by small trace amounts of chromium (Cr3+) and vanadium ions (V3+). As the pure mineral beryllium, emerald crystallizes in the hexagonal system and usually develops six-sided, prismatic to columnar crystals with a glassy luster on the surfaces. Its Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8 is comparable to that of beryllium. Shipping as insured registered mail
