Fascinating Formation from the Emerald Mines — This fascinating formation comes from the Brazilian emerald mines in Belmont, where green beryl crystals are naturally embedded in a dark matrix of biotite and altered quartzite. The block has been expertly polished and sculpted to enhance the emerald crystals — aggregated and elongated, with an intense, brilliant green that rises from the matrix like mineral sprouts in primordial soil. Emerald is a variety of beryl (Be3Al2Si6O18), whose green color is due to the presence of chromium, vanadium and, in some cases, iron. It forms under extremely rare geological conditions, in zones where beryllium-rich hydrothermal fluids encounter host rocks rich in chromium and vanadium, such as ultramafic schists and serpentinites. Brazil, particularly the states of Minas Gerais and Bahia, offers some varieties of emeralds, prized worldwide. In this matrix, the emerald crystals are distributed in an uneven but clearly visible way, with elongated geometries and hexagonal prisms that stand out against the color contrast of the host rock. Some crystals appear in section, while others are visible in depth, giving the piece exceptional three-dimensionality and dynamism. The black inclusions, biotite, complete the mineralogical landscape with a strong visual impact. This natural sculpture is a prestigious decorative element and a direct testimony to the deep geological processes that took millions of years to create such harmony. A perfect object for museums, private collections, elegant environments, or for anyone who desires an authentic and raw fragment of one of the Earth’s noblest gems.
