Magnificent and imposing Art Deco sculpture entitled "The Beauty and the Fawn" Émile Joseph Carlier (1849-1927) - The Beauty and the Fawn Important large-scale cast sculpture with argenté and doré patina, resting on a remarkable polychrome marble inlay plinth. This spectacular composition portrays a young woman. The model is characterized by an attitude that is natural, graceful, and sensuous: the body is rendered with suppleness, while the inclined face and the delicate gesture of the hand create a silent exchange with the animal. The metal reflections highlight the facial modeling, the fineness of the hair, the curves of the silhouette, and the flowing folds of the fabric. The fawn, peacefully nestled against the young woman, brings softness and poetry to the scene. This composition thus combines sensuality, elegance, and animal poetry, in the spirit of the great French decorative sculptures of the Belle Époque. About the sculptor: Émile Joseph Nestor Carlier, known as Émile Carlier, was a French sculptor born in 1849 and died in 1927. Trained with renowned masters, notably Pierre-Jules Cavelier and Henri Chapu, he began exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1874, and then regularly. His oeuvre includes busts, allegorical figures, monumental compositions, and decorative subjects. A major decorative piece Due to its generous proportions, the quality of its composition, and the richness of its plinth, The Beauty and the Fawn is a true prestige sculpture. Its horizontal format allows it to sit on a large console, a low piece of furniture, a monumental fireplace, or within a collection devoted to French sculpture. A rare, imposing, and immediately decorative composition, signed by a renowned French sculptor. Secure and insured shipment.
