Very rare and fascinating oil painting on canvas mounted on cardboard by the divisionist master Emilio Longoni (1859-1932), depicting a suggestive Mountain Landscape. Details of the work: • Author: Emilio Longoni (Barlassina 1859 - Milan 1932) • Title: Mountain Landscape • Technique: Oil on canvas mounted on cardboard • Dimensions: 30.5 x 40.5 cm • Signature: Autograph "E. Longoni" at bottom right Historical-critical notes and provenance: The work is accompanied by a prestigious and exhaustive official expert report on a card from the Archivio Iconografico Informatico (Card no. 74001), signed by the renowned art historian and leading expert of the Italian 19th century Giuliano Matteucci (Società di Belle Arti di Viareggio). As highlighted in Professor Matteucci's expert report, the painting can be dated to around 1920, a moment of extraordinary maturity when Longoni alternates the rigorous divisionist stroke with filaments of denser, more material impasto. The scholar certifies the work as a “significant variant, or more inspired by” the famous and highly sought-after Bernina cycle. Its absence in the 1995 catalog raisonné is historically explained by the fact that the work had long been kept within a prestigious private collection, temporarily losing track before its subsequent fortunate rediscovery. Included documentation: • Original certificate of authenticity and detailed expert report signed by Giuliano Matteucci (dated 01-09-1999). • Archive reference no. 74001 - Painting no. 11/99. Condition: The work presents an excellent state of conservation. The paint film preserves all its original freshness and tactile intensity. Framed in a splendid period gilded frame with a red velvet mat.
