enormous hedgehog pencil Taxidermy full body mount...

The term 'pencil hedgehog' (or 'pencil sea urchin') commonly identifies some species of sea urchins characterized by thick, cylindrical, or triangular spines that resemble pencils or pieces of chalk. Phyllacanthus imperialis (or slate-pencil urchin): an imposing echinoderm characterized by massive primary spines, smooth, triangular in cross-section, and with vibrant colors ranging from vivid red to brown. In the past, its fossilized or dried spines were literally used as chalk to write on slate boards. A particularly beautiful lot, pencil sea urchin on a small brass pedestal. An object for lovers of marine curiosities, an item capable of enriching any collection. Happy bidding.
