ENSIGN Ful-Vue – Reinterpretazione Custom "East London /...

We are auctioning a unique piece of craftsmanship and design: a British medium-format Ensign Ful-Vue camera (originally made in England by Houghton-现场/Barnet Ensign in the 1940s/50s), reinterpreted with a one-of-a-kind customization concept. Design concept and historical reinterpretation The customization work grew from a careful aesthetic study focused on the golden era of British design and on the camera’s historic place of origin: East London. The side panels showcase a refined artistic pattern with Art Deco / Mid-Century influence that celebrates London identity. Among the illustrated details are: The famous William Morris Gallery and the county/district of Walthamstow (East London), historic site of production. Iconic motifs of urban landscape such as symbols of the London Underground and the vibrant atmosphere of the Walthamstow Market. Innovative technical cladding To complete the functional and aesthetic restoration, the top of the camera body — originally in standard Bakelite of the era — has been fitted with a new coating in state-of-the-art technical material. This material was selected to offer: High tactile resistance and everyday wear resistance. Oleophobic and protective treatment against grease and light oils. A modern and pleasant grip that elevates the original ergonomics while preserving the unmistakable curved silhouette with the large top-viewfinder (Reflex-type viewfinder). Key Technical Features Original Brand/Model: Ensign Ful-Vue (Made in England). Lens: Ensign All-Distance Lens / Ful-Vue. Film Format: Medium format (Rollfilm 120, still readily available and usable). Viewfinder: Large, very bright upper viewfinder for top framing. Operational state: Shutter not always regular; integrated and functioning opening mechanisms and lock/unlock knob. Aesthetic and Functional Conditions Aesthetics: Excellent visual impact thanks to artisanal restoration. Minimal traces of original patina on the black paint (which confer the right vintage charm). Mechanical: Simple, robust. Ideal as a display/collection piece.
