Ethiopian Crystal Opal – an exceptional natural specimen...

This impressive natural crystal opal piece from Ethiopia captivates with its exceptional transparency, the warm, honey-yellow to olive-green base color, and an especially lively play of color. Within the transparent-to-translucent opal body unfolds a fascinating blaze of color, with intense green, bright blue, strong orange, yellow, and fiery red, which, depending on the light incidence and viewing angle, reveals new color zones again and again. Particularly striking are the large orange-red color flashes in the lower and middle sections, interwoven with intense green and individual electric blues, giving the piece extraordinary optical depth. The natural raw form, with its characteristic irregular outer contour and the clearly preserved areas of the matrix or host rock, underscores the original character of this specimen. At the same time, selected areas have been carefully smoothed and polished, making the underlying opal structure especially prominent and making the play of color seem to illuminate from within the stone. Through the combination of transparent opal substance, natural matrix, pronounced depth, and an exceptionally intense play of color, this is a highly decorative and characterful collectible for lovers of high-quality Welo and crystal opals. A particularly fascinating natural piece that reveals its effect especially under targeted lighting and presents a different play of color with every change of viewing angle—from vivid neon green to turquoise and blue to spectacular fire colors in orange, yellow, and red Stone: Crystal-Opal Weight: 73.80 ct Size: 33.1 x 22.6 x 17.6 mm Colour: Play of Color Treatment: None Origin: Ethiopia The pictures were taken with strong light and table lamps.
