European School, 17th/18th Century - The Last Supper, after a Florentine Mannerist composition of the Vasari circle, oil on oak panel, 72.5 x 73 cm, framed. The composition relates closely to the late Florentine Mannerist tradition of Giorgio Vasari (1511–1574) and his circle, and particularly to compositions associated with Giovanni Battista Naldini (c.1537–1591) and Francesco Morandini (called Il Poppi, 1544–1597). The strongest presently identified comparison is the Last Supper at Figline Valdarno, Florence, dated to the second half of the 16th century and officially catalogued as attributed to Giovanni Battista Naldini, with an earlier attribution to the school of Giorgio Vasari. The catalogue specifically notes its tightly compressed composition, repeated profile heads and distinctive physiognomic types, all features relevant to the present painting (Catalogo dei Beni Culturali).
