Christ on the Cross, Antique Religious Oil Painting Atmospheric antique religious painting depicting Jesus Christ on the cross, set against a restrained landscape and pale blue-grey sky. The work has a sombre and devotional character. Christ is painted in muted flesh tones with visible wounds and blood accents, while the surrounding landscape is kept intentionally dark and subdued. The restrained colour palette and relatively loose brushwork give the painting an expressive, almost intimate appearance. The painting is presented in a richly decorated gilt ornamental frame with classical motifs. Both the painting and frame show clear signs of age, contributing to the historic character of the work. Technique: Oil painting Subject: The Crucifixion of Christ Dimensions including frame: approx. 34 × 40 cm Period: Antique / likely late 19th Signature: No clearly visible signature observed Frame: Ornate gilt frame Condition: The work is in age-related condition with visible surface dirt, small marks, abrasions and general traces of age. The frame also shows wear, losses and ageing to the gilded decorative surface. The reverse shows an old construction consistent with the age and character of the object. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description and provide the best impression of the condition. The artwork will be carefully packed for shipping.
