European school (XX) - Naturaleza Muerta

Pair of oil paintings on canvas depicting delicate floral still lifes inspired by the Baroque, works belonging to the European school of the early 20th century. Both compositions present elegant arrangements of garden flowers set against dark backgrounds, a feature characteristic of the Flemish and Dutch Baroque still life tradition, which allows highlighting the chromatic intensity and the richness of petal nuances through a studied play of light and shadow. Each painting shows a careful botanical selection composed of roses, poppies, lilies and other ornamental species, treated with notable pictorial sensitivity and a technique that combines descriptive precision with an evocative atmosphere. The bouquets seem to emerge from the shadows, creating depth and visual dynamism, while the contrasts between whites, crimsons, pinks, blues and ochres evoke the great floral models of European Baroque reinterpreted from a later academic sensibility. The works bear the artist’s signature in the lower corner, a detail that adds artistic and collecting interest to the set. The execution reveals a solid technical training, appreciable in the meticulous representation of vegetal textures, the subtlety of the transparencies and the naturalness of the compositions. The canvases are framed in their elegant period gilded frames, made of molded wood with a gold finish, whose sober and refined profiles add depth and enhance the paintings' chromatic richness. The warm patina of the gilding harmonizes with the tones of the oil and contributes to the decorative presence of the ensemble. Some signs of time with craquelure. An attractive pair of decorative and collectible paintings that combines the charm of Baroque floral painting, the technical quality of the European nineteenth-century school, and the added value of preserving their original historic frames, making them ideal to adorn salons, libraries, dining rooms or interiors with classic and elegant inspiration.
