Ex Lee Marvin/ Malcom Smith/ Werner Salevsky A pair of Husqvana 450 CR , 1971 Consecutive frame numbers MJ 1080 and MJ 1081 single cylinder with five speed gearbox, orange and silver, together with documentation of provenance. See Lot 259, Mecum Auction , January 30th , 2026. *Provenance- From the Upham Collection *Notes- Built on the same day and shipped to the United States as entries for the Baja 1000 in 1971. Frame No. 1080 was shipped to San Diego for Malcolm Smith to ride, but after a short test ride of 30 miles he declared it' too heavy to ride' and it was subsequently gifted to actor Lee Marvin. Frame No. 1081 was to have been ridden by former 1ST Champion Werner Salevsky , but he was unable to attend the race and the bike was gifted to Lee Marvin. Academy Award-winning actor Lee Marvin was an avid off-road motorcycle racer who routinely rode and competed in Southern California desert races alongside fellow actor Keenan Wynn and legendary stuntman Cary Loftin. While Marvin famously learned to ride for his breakout role in the 1953 film The Wild One (riding a Harley-Davidson on screen and adopting a 200cc Triumph Tiger Cub for his early desert racing days), he later became part of a legendary Hollywood circle of elite dirt riders. Throughout the late 1960s and 1970s, it was highly common to find Lee Marvin ripping across the Mojave Desert and Hollywood hills on high-performance Husqvarna dirt bikes, sharing the terrain with fellow icons like Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, and James Coburn. See Lot 259, Mecum Auction , January 30th , 2026.
