Collection of 10 old wax ex-votos, primarily in the form of human body parts. The lot includes, among others, a heart, eyes and teeth. Such wax votive offerings were given as supplication or thanksgiving, with the depicted body part usually referring to healing or protection of that part of the body. The pieces are individually formed and executed in different shades of wax. Several pieces are hollow-cast and some still come with a hanging thread. Originating from an old collection of religious folk art. Dimensions: largest heart about 13 × 8 cm; eyes about 10 × 3 cm. The remaining pieces vary in size. Condition: signs of aging and use, discoloration, soiling and local damage. Some pieces show small cracks or irregularities. See the photos for a full view of the condition.
