Exceptional allegory of Death, Southern Germany / Tyrol, 18th–19th centuries

Descriptio Carved bone. Dimensions: 13 × 10 × 4 cm. An extraordinary small-scale sculpture representing an allegory of Death, crafted with meticulous detail from carved bone. The figure, likely conceived as a devotional piece or memento mori, reflects the Baroque tradition of southern Germany and Tyrol, where such representations served as a reminder of the fleeting nature of life and the inevitability of human fate. Its precise modeling and the natural patina of the material enhance the expressiveness and drama of the work. Provenance: private collection. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
