Descriptio 925 sterling silver and steel. Signed Emilio Jorge Patarca. Argentina, 20th century. Length: 30 cm. Total weight: 256 g. Approximate silver weight: 180 g. Argentine criollo knife made of 925 sterling silver with a steel blade, signed by the silversmith Emilio Jorge Patarca. The handle and sheath are completely silver-plated and decorated with stylized floral motifs, openwork geometric elements, and ornamental details characteristic of traditional Río de la Plata silversmithing. The sheath stands out for the richness of its craftsmanship and the quality of its execution, combining smooth surfaces with highly refined openwork decoration. The criollo knife is one of the most representative pieces of the Argentine gaucho tradition. In addition to its utilitarian function, it was a symbol of prestige and distinction, especially when crafted by master silversmiths. This piece embodies the aesthetic and technical qualities of the finest Argentine silversmithing of the 20th century.
