All auctions / Arts & Graphics / Exceptional Limoges enamel candelabra from the end of the 17th century

Descriptio Limoges enamel. Measures 15 x 13 x 13 cm. A candlestick with a turned profile and polygonal base, enriched with enamel decoration in black, white, blue, green, and gold, featuring alternating scrolls, profile busts, fantastical motifs, and a central heraldic shield. The piece displays a refined ornamental repertoire inspired by the Renaissance and Plateresque periods, adapted to the historicist taste that revived Limoges techniques and models. The contrast between the black background and the vibrancy of the enamels creates a rich and vibrant surface with a remarkably precious effect. Its craftsmanship demonstrates a clear decorative and collector’s intent, typical of 19th-century luxury objects that virtuosically recreate the formal languages of the French Renaissance. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
