EXCEPTIONALLY LARGE BOHEMIAN GLASS CUP WITH NOBLE AUGSBURG ROYAL CREST

Descriptio 34 cm. 34 cm, hand-blown crystal, cut and etched. Perfect condition. With Beautiful hand-carved large French or German-Austro Hungarian Noble Coat of Arms at the central of the cup. Precious Bohemian crystal is produced in the regions of Bohemia and Silesia, in what are now the Czech Republic and Poland. Bohemian glass began to be produced in the late 13th century but did not gain widespread recognition until the late 16th century. Over the next two centuries, Bohemia enjoyed complete European dominance in this industry. The cutting and engraving techniques of the Baroque period (1685–1750) are particularly noteworthy. In the early 17th century, the gem cutter Caspar Lehmann was appointed as a protégé of Emperor Rudolf II of Habsburg.
