This set is a outstanding example of traditional European dowry craftsmanship from the first half of the 20th century. The base fabric consists of high-quality, pure white linen with the characteristic noble thread structure. The entire set is in an absolutely flawless, unused condition – free of stains, yellowing, cracks, or creases from storage. A rare stroke of luck for collectors of historic textiles. Central motif & corners (cutwork / threadwork): The large geometric cross in the center of the tablecloth and the corners of the napkins were crafted in the most intricate handwork. Threads were pulled from the fabric, wrapped, and woven into delicate star- and lattice-patterns. Placemats (Richelieu / white embroidery): The curved edges of the set doilies display masterful floral embroideries with artistic nodes and a hand-worked net ground. The fabric under the embroidery was precisely cut by hand. Border: The tablecloth features a wide, elegant crochet/lace edge.
