Extra Clear Quartz Cluster - Perfectly Formed Crystal...

Crystalline group of exceptional clarity and luster — This lot features a prominent group of Milky Quartz, or Rock Crystal, from the famous Corona Mine mining area in Colombia. This specimen stands out for its three-dimensional architecture and the high quality of the crystals, which form a natural sculpture of great visual impact. The specimen represents a classic of world mineralogy, displaying the most valued characteristics of Colombian quartz. The structure is a dense, harmonious aggregate of hexagonal prismatic crystals radiating from a common, more massive base. The main crystals, elongated and perfectly terminated with the typical pyramidal faces, emerge in different directions, creating a dynamic play of volumes and perspectives. The transparency is remarkable, almost glassy in the apical portions, allowing light to pass through the mineral and reveal the delicate internal growth structures. The luster is vitreous and intense on all crystal faces, which are smooth and well defined. The base, of a more milky white, provides an elegant contrast with the crystal purity of the tips. The origin of this specimen is linked to hydrothermal processes. Within fractures and cavities in the Andean rocks, overheated aqueous solutions rich in silica (SiO₂) slowly deposited the quartz, molecule after molecule. The relatively stable pressure and temperature conditions for an extended period allowed the growth of large, exceptionally pure crystals, free from significant inclusions that would have compromised transparency. The difference in clarity between the tips and the base testifies to the different stages of the crystallization process. This quartz group is not only a mineralogical treasure but also a highly refined decorative object. Its sculptural form and its purity make it an ideal piece to enrich a mineral collection, to be displayed in a Wunderkammer (cabinet of curiosities) or as a focal element in a contemporary design setting or a professional studio. The crystal’s ability to refract and decompose light makes it a living object, changing appearance depending on illumination. The slight internal veils or fine growth lines visible in transmitted light are not defects, but the “signature” of the natural formation process, attesting to the authenticity and geological history of the piece. The specimen is presented in excellent condition, completely natural, having undergone no treatment, polishing, or restoration, with intact crystal terminations.
