The “Combed” finish gives this fabric a velvety softness to the touch. A guarantee for this precious William Morris fabric. Try it to believe it! This Pimpernel has a very elegant, delicate palette, typically inspired by William Morris. The main colors are: - Background: warm taupe / beige linen, with a slight gray-sand hue. - Large flowers (Pimpernel): warm ivory, cream and pale cream, with subtle butter-colored shading. - Interwoven branches: ice white with powder blue and pearl gray veining. - Leaves: a combination of powder blue, slate blue, steel blue with small accents of navy blue. - Small flowers: petals in rosy ivory with a soft coral / light terracotta center. - Stems: desaturated petrol blue and blue-gray. The overall effect is fresh, bright and refined, with a predominance of cool tones (blue) balanced by the warmth of the beige background and the cream-colored large flowers. It is a very versatile variant, suitable for both classical interiors and modern interiors in country chic or English cottage style. "Pimpernel" and "The Art of Movement" An enchanting floral weft in Art Nouveau Morris style. Liberty. A distinctive style with a creative pattern even in its simplicity. The design you showed is indeed "Pimpernel" by William Morris, one of the most iconic motifs of the Arts and Crafts movement. William Morris (1876) Origin and style: Designed by William Morris in 1876, "Pimpernel" is one of his most famous fabrics, also used as wallpaper. It takes its name from the "pimpernel" (in Italian, centocchio), a small flower that appears among the large sinuously curved flowers, usually identified as tulips or poppies. William Morris (Walthamstow, March 24, 1834 – London, October 3, 1896) was a British artist and writer. Morris was among the principal founders of the Arts and Crafts movement; he is considered a pioneer of modern designers and exerted a notable influence on architecture and architects of his time. Many consider him the father of the Modern Movement, although he was not an architect himself. He founded a design studio in collaboration with artist Edward Burne-Jones, and with poet and artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti who deeply influenced church and house decoration in the twentieth century. He also made a significant contribution to the revival of traditional textile arts and the associated production methods. Watch the photographic sequence to see all the details.
