Fauteuil - fruitier wood, rush - Provincial-style armchair

The armchair reflects the enduring popularity of French provincial design, often reproduced in the mid-20th century. Characterized by its rustic charm, the piece features a classic rush seat and a decorative backrest carved with a grape motif, a common design element symbolizing abundance. The construction typically uses hardwoods such as cherry or elm, finished to simulate the aged fruitwood. Collectors and interior designers appreciate these chairs for their ability to add character and warmth to both traditional and eclectic dining spaces. Although it is not a rare piece, pieces in excellent condition with original, tight rush weaving retain a stable market value due to their decorative versatility and artisanal durability.
