Federico Alibrio - Moths - Vertical and Horizontal

Sculpture Panel – "Moths" (Checkerboard Version) Description of the Work: If in the previous versions the artist explored the intimate and direct confrontation between two opposing figures, in this majestic decorative panel the concept expands into a grand rhythmic and choral composition. The work presents itself as a complex grid of 81 raised tiles (9×9 matrix), made in finely modeled resin and mounted on a solid wooden support. Each miniature houses a carefully carved moth, meticulously detailed in its anatomical features—from delicate antennae to wing veins—creating an extraordinary contrast between the organic softness of the insect and the rigorous geometric structure. The surface lives through a continuous dialogue between chromatic and spatial opposites: The Light Tiles: House white moths that alternate between vertical positions. The Dark Tiles: Feature moths in dark tones immersed in a dense, glossy glaze that shines under light, lending depth and three-dimensionality to the relief. Placed in horizontal positions. Symbolism and Meaning: Inspired by the duality already present in the two-element version, this work amplifies the symbolic message by linking it to the concept of collectivity and natural cycle: Substantial Duality: The systemic alternation between light and shadow, white and black, day and night invites reflection on the fundamental contrasts of existence: vulnerability and strength, stasis and movement. Transformation and Metamorphosis: The moth, a nocturnal guide drawn to light through darkness, multiplies here into a hypnotic flight. It becomes a universal symbol of inner evolution, resilience, and spiritual rebirth. Geometry and Ethereal: The choice to apply the resin tiles on wood gives solid materiality to a representation of insects with ethereal and fragile beauty, transforming the panel into a vibrant and contemplative sculptural presence. On the back there is a hole for wall mounting. The work will be shipped in careful packaging and with a certificate of authenticity. The Sicilian artist Federico Alibrio, born in 1995, is always seeking inspiration to grow with new experiences. Graduated in Sculpture in 2021 from the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania, he works in sculpture and painting. He has participated in and continues to participate in high-profile cultural exhibitions and symposia, demonstrating commitment and seriousness in confronting sculptural practice. "Open-minded people find inspiration everywhere" is one of his philosophical approaches.
