Figure - Pareja de Patos (2) - Wood

Pair of decorative ducks made of wood from the second half of the 20th century, inspired by the traditional hunting decoys used to attract waterfowl. These pieces reinterpret the functional aesthetics of the old decoys through an artisanal execution that emphasizes the natural beauty of the material and the expressiveness of hand-carved carving. The figures feature a stylized and streamlined silhouette, with softly modeled heads and bodies elaborated from fragments of wood worked to suggest plumage through incisions, textures, and carved reliefs. The composition combines areas of smooth surface with others of greater sculptural richness, generating a visual contrast that enhances the artisanal character of the ensemble. Especially striking is the way organic wood forms have been used to build the birds’ volume. The bodies maintain a rustic and natural appearance, enriched by grain, knots, and tonal variations that lend each specimen its own uniqueness. Some carved bands surround the central part of the figures, visually unifying the composition and reinforcing its decorative aspect. The warm honey-toned wood and the polished finish allow appreciation of the material’s richness, while the formal simplicity recalls the popular tradition of North American and European hunting decoys—objects that over time have transcended their original use to become highly valued pieces in collecting and decoration. For its balanced combination of craftsmanship, tradition and rustic design, this pair of ducks constitutes an attractive decorative ensemble, ideal for interiors in a rural style, country houses, libraries, offices or specialized collections in folk art, wood carving and objects linked to the world of nature and traditional hunting.
