Figurine - Vintage Sosaku Kokeshi Pop "Bakushū"...

Stunning and rare large Japanese Sosaku (creative) Kokeshi doll with the poetic title "Bakushū" (麦秋), which means "Wheat Autumn" or "Wheat Harvest." This iconic masterwork was designed and handmade by the legendary craftsman Okamoto Usaburo (1917–2009), founder of the famous Usaburo Kokeshi Studio in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. This example dates from the 1970s/1980s and is in beautiful vintage condition. The body is made of deep, dark-stained wood with a stunning natural grain. Using a refined woodcarving and pyrography technique (wood burning), detailed gold-colored wheat stalks have been applied, symbolizing the early summer breeze and a rich harvest. The serene, minimalist facial expression and the characteristic round hairstyle are typical of Usaburo's recognizable style. On the underside is the original, bright red paper atelier label from Usaburo, still completely intact and perfectly legible, which absolutely guarantees authenticity. Condition: Beautiful vintage condition with minimal signs of aging. Gorgeous gloss and a fully intact red makers label on the underside.
