Characterful antique turf- or coal scuttle, presumably made around 1880–1910. Executed in black-enamelled sheet iron with a ribbed, tapering-down body and a domed hinged lid. The lid is decorated with a gold-colored depiction of birds among flowers and leaves. The elegant cast-iron side handles and claw feet give the piece a handsome Classical look. Dimensions: Width: 48 cm Height: 40 cm Depth: 32 cm The scuttle shows clear signs of age and use, including paint loss, wear to the decoration, localized rust, and a few dents.
