firmato - Rare Passeport Révolutionnaire de l'An VI...

Superb and rare original historical document from the era of the French Revolution. It is an official internal passport printed with the header of the French Republic, expressly referring to the revolutionary decrees and laws of 16 Vendémiaire Year 4 and 28 Vendémiaire Year 6. This document was issued under the Directory in the Gard department. The passport was issued in the name of citizen Louis Roux, landowner residing in the commune of Durfort (Canton of Monoblet), to allow him to travel to Nîmes. Administrative characteristics and physical description: • Date: Issued on 8 Prairial Year VI of the Republic (27 May 1798), a pivotal period of the Directory. • Complete anthropometric description: The document contains the very detailed handwritten physical description of the holder (Age: 28 years, Height: 1m75, red hair and eyebrows, grey eyes, large nose, oval face, prominent chin). • Signatures and official marks: Includes the handwritten signature of the bearer (L. Roux), of the municipal administrators, as well as a very fine black wax seal and a damp stamp of the Monoblet administration, perfectly preserved and legible. Condition: Very good overall condition for a paper document of this era (over 225 years old). The printed text and handwritten ink marks are perfectly legible, very crisp. Era creases and light natural signs of wear that enhance its historical authenticity. An ideal collectible for enthusiasts of the French Revolution, of the history of Gard (Occitanie) or for collectors of rare old documents (fiscal privilege / official documents).
