[First Edition] Laughing Boy Oliver La Farge [Used - Very good] [Hardcover]

The Author opens this book saying: "This book is a work of fiction. I have tried to be as true as I know how to the general spirit of Navajo things, to customs and character, but all personages and incidents in the story are fictious, as well as places." Please find a very nice copy, albeit without the dust jacket, of Oliver La Farge's novel about the Navajo, titled: "Laughing Boy." This book would be awarded the Pulitizer Prize in 1930. It is bound in desert beige buckram with brown titles on cover and spine; the top edge is tinted dark brown. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled and show some darkening to the spine and along the gutter where one's hands touch the book while reading it. The boards are not bumped. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages are still clean and bright; I found two pages (107 & 109) with some light foxing along the leading edge, none others. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight, sound and square. There is a small bookseller's label on the rear endpaper (Grenville Book Shop, Washington). This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
