This is a Near Fine copy of this book in brown with dark brown title lettering to both spine and upper cover.This is a scarce book made even rarer due to the presence of it's dust-jacket.There are a few small nicks and tears to it's extremities and there is some tape strengthening on the underside along spine and across the front cover's long closed tear.There are no former names or inscriptions present.With some 13 Chapters and a large folding map present at the rear of the book of the Central Provinces.The work features bear and wild dog hunting,Tiger hunts,Pig Sticking,Deer antelope and gazelle hunting also.Contents remain clean and the binding is tight,slight spotting to text block edges.The Shikar club was founded at the Café Royal in London's Regent Street, more than seventy well-known hunting and shooting men met at the inaugural dinner of the Shikar Club. The event was presided over by the Earl of Lonsdale.It promoted shooting at international shooting exhibitions with the clear expression of big game hunting within legitimate class and national identities.The membership of the club included many high-ranking military men, such as Sir Claude Champion de Crespigny described as "one of the hardest and pluckiest men in England… ready to box, ride, walk, run, shoot, fence, sail or swim with anyone over fifty on equal terms.The Shikar Club continues to exist and meets regularly at the Savoy Hotel, London, for the purposes of continuing the tradition of hunting and shooting.
