A stingray and a small fish, captured together in stone for 100 million years. This Cyclobatis oligodactylus glided over the seabed of the shallow tropical sea that once covered Lebanon, before being buried in the fine sediments of Haqel, a site famous for its exceptional preservation. Because rays have a skeleton made of cartilage rather than bone, they almost never fossilise, which makes a complete specimen like this one a real find for collectors. Its round disc is outlined by dozens of delicate radiating rays, with the central skeleton and tail clearly visible, while a small fish lies just below it on the same plate. Cenomanian, Upper Cretaceous. Ray approx. 11 cm, fish approx 5 cm, plate approx 19 × 21 cm Shipped with care and solid protective packaging.
