A beautifully preserved Stichocentrus sp. from Hjoula, one of Lebanon's most famous fossil sites, dating from the Upper Cretaceous (Cenomanian), around 100 million years ago, in the age of the dinosaurs. Stichocentrus is an early spiny-finned fish, an ancient relative of today's squirrelfishes and soldierfishes. Every detail is visible: the head and jaws, the delicate spine and ribs, the spiny dorsal fin and a perfectly shaped tail, all in warm orange tones that stand out against the cream limestone. Compact and elegant, it makes an ideal first fossil or a charming display piece. Fish approx. 6 cm, plate approx. 10 × 9 cm. Carefully packed for shipping.
