Flavia Delgado - SUMMER OF LOVE XL

SUMMER OF LOVE is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by the free-spirited, optimistic, and countercultural vibe of the late sixties. The work features a classic Volkswagen van transformed into a symbol of travel, freedom, and youth. The composition instantly alludes to the hippie imagination and the road culture associated with a generation that transformed music, art, and the way of understanding life. Inspired by vintage graphic posters and pop vintage aesthetics, the painting uses intense colors and sharply defined contrasts. The vibrant red of the body, the bright yellow, and the electric blue of the background create a scene full of visual energy and retro nostalgia. The reference to “1967” places the work in the symbolic context of the so-called Summer of Love, a historical moment associated with music, festivals, artistic experimentation, and the desire for collective freedom. The van appears not only as a vehicle but as a cultural icon loaded with memory and emotion. Flavia Delgado transforms this classic image into a contemporary and highly decorative composition where humor, design, and popular culture coexist naturally. The bold black outlines and the graphic simplicity provide a direct and recognizable visual strength. SUMMER OF LOVE is a celebration of travel, music, and creative freedom, conceived as a luminous and optimistic piece capable of instantly conveying a sense of movement, adventure, and joyful nostalgia.
