Floor lamp (2) - Aluminium

Wonderful and very rare tripod composed of three legs, dating to the 1950s/60s/70s respectively. The spotlight belongs to Castiglione delle Stiviere (Mantua). Coemar, founded in 1933, for decades has been one of Italy’s world-leading companies in the design and production of professional lighting systems for show business, today transformed into a lamp once used for theater and television studios. The Solar / Compact series was born between the late 1970s and the 1980s. At that time, the market demanded lighting bodies that were more compact, lighter, and more resistant than the old heavy stamped-sheet projectors. Coemar answered by introducing die-cast aluminum heat-sink frames. This innovation redefined robustness and thermal management standards of the era, making these spotlights extremely popular in theaters and rental services across Europe. Device Description The Coemar Solar 650/1000 Compact is a professional projector designed for intensive use. Body and Thermal Management: The outer shell is entirely made of black ribbed aluminum. The fins are not a cosmetic choice, but act as a massive passive heat sink, essential for dissipating the very high temperatures generated by 1000W halogen lamps without the aid of noisy fans, prohibited in theater settings. It features a functional close-up and distance adjustment system for the lamp glass of the spotlight to control intensity and throw depth, and the light output volume. A rugged thermally insulated side handle allows you to orient the spotlight even when it is hot. In the center there is a black knurled friction wheel with a chrome flange to securely lock the projection angle on its mounting yoke (called the “hook” or “cradle”). Safety: At the bottom there is a screw cap with a red lightning bolt and the inscription "Supply disconnect before opening". This system prevents accidental opening of the lamp compartment when the light is live. Technical Main Features Multivoltage Power Supply: Operates in a range from 120V to 240V (50/60 Hz), making it suitable for both European and American standards. Light Source: Used tungsten halogen lamps with GX 9.5 base (a two-pin quick-connect base typical of stage lighting). Maximum Power: Supports lamps up to a maximum of 1000 Watts (can also mount less powerful variants of 650W or 500W depending on lighting needs). Today it uses very low-consumption LED lighting. It is paired with a rare original Theis Wolzhausen topographic tripod (produced by the historic German company Theis Feinwerktechnik GmbH, based in Breidenbach-Wolzhausen). This historic brand has been active since the last century in producing instruments of extreme precision such as theodolites and optical levels, making these sturdy ash-wood tripods to guarantee maximum stability and to absorb micro-vibrations of the ground. Brand and Structure Details The Junction Plate: The bluish metal block visible on the top of the wood bears the famous inscription "Made in Germany" etched near the manufacturer’s logo. The Lower Brackets: The pointed dark metal tips, equipped with horizontal finned brackets, were used by the surveyor to press with the foot and firmly stake the tripod into the ground or mud during field surveys. Today, collectors and industrial design enthusiasts actively seek Theis tripods on modern design platforms precisely to pair them with old stage spotlights and turn them into character lamps. If you’d like to delve into the history of your tripod, let me know: If you want to determine the exact fabrication period (e.g., 1950s or 1960s). All in excellent condition with only minimal modifications as described and shown in the photos.
