Jewellery from the immediate post-war period is interesting in many ways and just as complex as these years themselves: Torn between the departure into a new, modern world and the desire not to lose their ties to established traditions, the goldsmiths and designers created designs with their own unique appeal. Even a glance at the formal language reveals this balancing act. The forms of late Art Deco are often still alive, but the details are often somewhat freer and unafraid of abstraction. This small brooch is a beautiful testimony to this new era. It is forged from high-carat yellow gold and takes the form of a graceful blossom. Framed by finely crafted petals and stamens, it presents a bright green tourmaline as a pistil in its center. The brooch came to us from Minden. According to the hallmark, it was made by the goldsmith D. F. Weber in Pforzheim.
