Santini – Lot of 3 religious sculptures – Madonna with Child and Madonna with Roses – Italy Description Elegant lot consisting of three religious sculptures from Santini craftsmanship, depicting different interpretations of the Virgin Mary, two of which are accompanied by the Child Jesus. The works feature a refined polychrome finish, characterized by delicate tones, harmonious draperies, and sweet contemplative expressions. The three sculptures are executed in a traditional figurative style and stand out for the care of the details, decorations, and compositions. The figures rest on decorative bases that enhance their presentation and allow stable display. 1. Madonna with Roses The first sculpture depicts the Virgin Mary standing, wrapped in a wide white cloak. The Madonna holds in her arms a floral arrangement of pink roses, a symbol traditionally associated with Marian devotion. The face presents delicate features and a serene expression, while the cloak features broad folds that give movement and elegance to the figure. Particularly noteworthy is the workmanship of the roses, with petals and leaves accurately modeled and painted. The sculpture rests on a decorative base with a dark lower support. 2. Madonna with Baby Jesus – Blue Mantle The second sculpture represents the Virgin Mary standing, lovingly holding Baby Jesus in her arms. The figure wears a long white gown and a deep blue mantle, enriched by a subtle decorative border. The Madonna’s face is characterized by a sweet and contemplative expression, while the Baby Jesus is depicted in a natural and gathered position. The composition stands out for the elegance of the proportions and for the color contrast between the white of the gown and the blue of the mantle. The sculpture rests on a rectangular base with a dark wooden-colored lower support. 3. seated Madonna with Baby Jesus The third sculpture depicts the Virgin Mary seated, with Baby Jesus on her knees. The composition features a particularly intricate treatment of the garments, with numerous folds and ornamental details. The Madonna wears a veil and a long light-toned dress, while the Baby Jesus is portrayed with a lively expression. The two figures are united in a scene of great tenderness and intimacy. The sculpture rests on a decorative base with a dark lower support.
