Flos - Erwan Bouroullec - Wall lamp - MAAP W2 - Paper, Metal

The Maap wall lamp by Flos stands out for its scenographic presence and its ability to transform the wall surface into a luminous field. The project stems from the desire to offer a wide and diffused light source, capable of enveloping the space with a soft and uniform glow. Maap’s structure comprises a luminous element equipped with multiple LED sources, supported by a cross-shaped bracket that acts as a magnetic anchor for the diffusing cover. The latter, manually moldable, suggests an organic and mutable surface, where each installation assumes a unique configuration. The magnetic fixing system allows reshaping the diffuser’s form, introducing a dimension of direct and personal interaction with the object. The lamp lends itself to various visual interpretations, evoking landscapes, maps, or enlarged cellular structures. Maap’s design approach favors lightness and formal freedom, inviting exploration of the relationship between light, matter, and space. The installation suggests usage scenarios where the wall becomes the protagonist, welcoming a light source that adapts to the context and to the environment’s needs. The lamp’s presence translates into an immersive visual effect, capable of accompanying both domestic spaces and public environments with a diffused and enveloping light.
