Flower Travellin' Band - Anywhere (Japan) – ULTRA RARE...

An exceptionally scarce original Japanese mono edition of Anywhere, released in 1970 on Philips Records under catalogue number FX-8507. One of the most sought-after records in Japanese psychedelic and hard rock collecting, and a landmark release from Japan's underground rock scene. What makes this particular pressing especially interesting is the rare mono edition. The original 1970 Japanese release appeared in both mono and stereo-labelled variations under the same catalogue number, making the different label editions particularly fascinating for serious collectors. This is the early Philips issue, not one of the later reissues. Anywhere marked the arrival of Flower Travellin' Band's classic lineup, featuring Joe Yamanaka, Hideki Ishima, Jun Kozuki and Joji Wada. Produced by Yuya Uchida, the album was released shortly before their legendary Satori and captures the group developing their unmistakable heavy psychedelic sound. The music is extraordinary, featuring long, adventurous interpretations of Black Sabbath's Black Sabbath, King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man, Muddy Waters' Louisiana Blues and House of the Rising Sun. The band's radical arrangements transform these familiar songs into something uniquely their own. And of course, there is the unforgettable original gatefold artwork, featuring the four band members riding motorcycles completely naked—one of the most iconic and unconventional album covers in Japanese rock history. ⸻ Sleeve (VG+): The gatefold sleeve remains solid and well-preserved overall, with some corner wear and a slight seam split consistent with careful use over decades. The presentation is clean and the artwork retains its striking visual impact. Vinyl (VG+): The vinyl retains a very nice gloss, though it shows multiple clearly visible superficial lines throughout.
