Folding screen - Kanazawa Gold Leaf (金沢箔) - Japan

Magnificent six-panel traditional Japanese miniature folding screen (Rokubuchi Byōbu) dating from the late Shōwa era (circa 1975-1990). This exceptional piece stands out for its craftsmanship and certified authenticity. Presence on the back of the official state gold hallmark sticker “Nihon Dentō Kōgeihin” (日本伝統工芸品), a highly regulated label certifying Japanese traditional artisan objects made using ancient methods. Gold Leaf from Kanazawa: The official label confirms the provenance of the gilding: “Kanazawa Haku” (金沢箔). The inner panels of this Kin-byōbu are covered with genuine gold leaf applied by hand, as evidenced by the delicate square junction lines visible in the light. High-Quality Finishes: The inner borders are accentuated by superb red and gold silk brocade trim (Kire). The corners and hinges are protected by gilded metal fittings (Kanamono) bearing stylized chrysanthemum motifs. The reverse (back panel) is elegantly clad in black fabric adorned with a geometric pattern of white rosettes. Impressive Dimensions: Height of 55 cm with a total unfolded width of 113 cm.
