Follower of Sir Peter Lely Portrait of Joceline Percy (1644-1670)

oil on canvas, 91 x 73cm; framed 99 x 84cm, Condition Report, Condition Report, Craquelure. A little light surface dirt and discolouration. There is a small indent to the canvas in the centre of the upper edge which has been retouched. The paint is a little thin in places, particularly to the face and hand, however appears to to be stable condition without any losses or flaking. Examined under UV light the surface is partially obscured by a layer of thick varnish, however some areas of overpainting and strengthening can be seen beneath the varnish around the sitter's head, face and neck. Further patches of overpainting show on and around the dog; and also to the background and sitter's clothing. There appears to be a small repaired tear to the centre of the right edge.
