[Charles Adolphe]) A History of Chemical Theory... half title, ink inscription to first free endpaper, near-contemporary calf, re-backed preserving gilt spine, with crest of St Paul's school in gilt to upper cover, rubbed, light staining to front board, g.e., double fore-edge paintings beneath the gilt by Vera Elinor Dutter, one with artist's initials, Macmillan and Co., 8vo, 1869. *** Prior owner's ink inscription reads "Double Fore-edge by Vera Elinor Dutton after (1) John Crome's 'The Edge of a Common' (2) St. Tropez after W. Lee Hankey 1950".
