Fossil skeleton - Dorsal Plate of Stegosaurus stenops...

Why does it look real? Because it is real stone! Ossatorum Aeterna is a company specializing in the creation of ultra-realistic replicas of dinosaur skeletons and other extinct or endangered animals. Using an innovative mineral-coating technique, our creations achieve an authentic, museum-quality appearance. This unique approach was born from a simple observation: painted replicas often lack realism, while traditional molds, although more faithful, provide limited detail and restrict the creation of fine anatomical features. Our hybrid technique combines the best of both worlds, accurately capturing anatomical complexity while giving a lifelike mineral texture of natural fossils. The result is arguably among the most realistic replicas currently available for discerning collectors and enthusiasts. Item for Sale: Replica Dorsal Plate of Stegosaurus stenops Overall Dimensions (with base): • Length: 78 cm • Height: 48 cm • Depth: 25 cm Discover a museum-quality, ultra-realistic life-size replica of a Stegosaurus dorsal plate—crafted for collectors, paleo-artists, and enthusiasts who value scientific fidelity paired with striking visual presence. About Stegosaurus stenops Stegosaurus stenops was one of the most iconic herbivorous dinosaurs of the Late Jurassic period, living approximately 155 to 150 million years ago in what is now North America. Easily recognized by its double row of large, plate-like osteoderms along its back, Stegosaurus remains one of the most visually distinctive dinosaurs ever discovered. The function of its dorsal plates has been widely studied and debated. While they likely provided some form of thermoregulation and species display, they may also have played a role in visual communication and intimidation. Each plate was embedded in skin and richly vascularized, making them dynamic biological structures rather than simple armor. The morphology of these plates reflects a unique evolutionary experiment in dermal ornamentation among dinosaurs. Their size, curvature, and internal structure make them one of the most remarkable examples of integumentary adaptation in the Mesozoic era. Key Features (Superior Craftsmanship) Weight and Stability With the base included, the specimen weighs 1200 g. Its solid construction ensures a stable and secure display suitable for shelves, desks, or museum cases. Mineralized Hyper-Realistic Finish This piece has undergone a multi-step artisanal process, including a hand-applied mineral coating that replicates fossilized bone texture, natural sediment infill patterns, and the rugged surface morphology of genuine osteoderms. For an enhanced museum-like presentation, we recommend a well-placed lighting setup. The interplay of light with the mineral layers emphasizes vascular-like surface channels, structural ridges, and curvature, enhancing depth and realism. Exceptional Detail Surface structures are reproduced with remarkable precision, faithfully capturing the plate’s natural asymmetry, internal texture, and anatomical complexity derived from fossil evidence. Museum-Grade Mounting The plate is mounted on a professional reinforced support system fixed to a solid plastic base. This is a museum-style sculpture designed to stand out in any natural history collection, from private studios to professional exhibit environments. Material Polymer coated with Ossatorum Aeterna’s hand-applied mineral coating, crafted from carefully selected rocks chosen for their natural coloration and finely ground to achieve an authentically fossilized texture. Scientific Accuracy Based on verified paleontological data and reproduced at true scale to ensure anatomical fidelity and scientific authenticity.
