Fr. 2201-Llgs. 1934 Light Green Seal $500 Federal Reserve Note. San Francisco. PMG Extremely Fine 40. Reflective of a better district for surviving $500 and $1000 Federal Reserve Notes. This lightly circulated example of a $500 from the San Francisco district which was issued under the Series of 1934 is particularly attractive and offers much that deserves to be considered. Here the Treasury overprint beckons with a distinct shade of green that was discontinued in the 1930s and offers a particularly pleasing contrast against the engraved balance of the design including the portrait of William McKinley seen at center and the complex engraved cartouches and counters seen along the margins. Held together overall and not only do you have a fine example of this ever-popular denomination, but also a note destined to command a premium bid. Estimate: $2,400 - $2,800.
