Fr. 2202-C. 1934A $500 Federal Reserve Note. Mule. Philadelphia. PCGS Banknote Choice Extremely Fine 45. A lovely example of this fabled denomination from the Philadelphia district. To that end, the application of the "lovely" descriptor is more than warranted thanks to the grade assigned and light circulation that's easily overlooked. Here bidders may observe some scattered, but light folds while the note itself offers a fine testament the $500 denomination that was discontinued in 1945 when the Series of 1934A was still current. Held together with the relative scarcity of the Philadelphia district for $500s and the level of eye appeal expressed by this item which echoes something one could expect of a higher grade level, it takes little to figure that bidders have here an opportunity not to be missed. Estimate: $2,400 - $2,800. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
