Fr. 225. 1896 $1 Silver Certificate. PMG About Uncirculated 50 EPQ. Burdened with the eye appeal and margins of an example that achieved a much higher assigned grade at the hands of PMG. This $1 Silver Certificate issued under the Series of 1896 manages to cut a forceful impression reflective of the popularity of the short-lived series. Here faint traces of technical circulation are utterly trumped by rich detail and boldly original color that serves to enliven the centermost vignette known as History Instructing Youth down to even the smallest of details. From elements such as the wardrobe of History to the distant cityscape of Washington dominated by iconic structures, one would be remiss to overlook this specimen solely on account of the numerical grade assigned by PMG. Instead, bidders would be advised to look beyond this consideration and instead bid from an appreciative position that considers both strong margins and excellent eye appeal that effortlessly manages to separate this example from the vast majority of survivors at this grade level. Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000. Click here for certification details from PMG.
