Fr. 2305*. 1934A $20 Hawaii Emergency Star Note. San Francisco. PMG Very Fine 25. A rare prospect for the collector looking to build a complete set of WWII-era Emergency Notes from Hawaii. Bidders have here for their consideration a handsome, but evenly circulated $20 that was issued in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor and the forced redemptions imposed by Military Governor Delos Carleton Emmons in 1942. Here one may observe a solid degree of technical sophistication for the grade assigned while honest originality is retained at various points throughout the design. Elements such as the brownish Treasury overprint do still manage a nice contrast against the engraved balance of the design including Jackson's portrait and the pre-1948 view of the White House which should help carry this note into the hands of an appreciative collector who seeks a solid example of this rare WWII-era Replacement. Estimate: $800 - $1,200. Click here for certification details from PMG.
