Fr. 2309. 1934A $10 North Africa Emergency Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. BA Block. First issued to American servicemen during the North African Campaign. Notes like this one have been a consistent favorite of collectors owing to the fact that these notes were specifically issued with the intent to make these notes worthless if a sizable quantity fell into enemy hands. This scenario nonetheless never came to pass and these notes managed circulate extensively with most survivors demonstrating signs of even circulation in technical terms. By contrast, this specimen likely never made it to its intended environment perhaps at the bottom of some strongbox or unissued pay requisition allowing it to survive in a state foreign to most of its peers which should no doubt distinguish this note in the eyes of a discerning specialist. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Click here for certification details from PMG.
