Fr. 824. 1915 $20 Federal Reserve Bank Note. Chicago. PCGS Banknote

A Rare Quality for a Tough Type and Denomination Fr. 824. 1915 $20 Federal Reserve Bank Note. Chicago. PCGS Banknote Choice Uncirculated 63 PPQ. Seen sparingly regardless of the series imprint or issuing district. The $20 Federal Reserve Bank Notes issued under the Series of 1915 and Series of 1918 are exponentially rarer than their similarly designed Federal Reserve Note counterparts issued under the Series of 1914. Yet that distinction becomes much more stark in higher grades. This particular example from the Chicago district is arguably one of the finest that a collector may consider at any given time by virtue of the grade assigned. Graded Choice Uncirculated 63 PPQ by PCGS Banknote, bidders are met with no shortage of premium qualities that effortlessly serve to the confirm that distinction even before one looks to the label. Here elements such as the right-facing portrait of Grover Cleveland provide a lifelike testament to the likeness of the 22nd and 24th President and a fine counterpoint to the title block evocative of the Series of 1902 National Bank Notes. A similar phenomenon may yet be observed with the back design where familiar compositional elements such as the period locomotive seen at left and the engraved reproduction of the SS Kronprinzessin Cecilie seen at right offer testament to a level of detail that's readily lost upon most circulated examples lending this example a quality sure to enthrall a veritable army of condition-focused bidders. PCGS Banknote Pop 1/1 Finer. Estimate: $10,000 - $15,000. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
