France. 10 Francs 1967 Hercule (No reserve price)

French 10 Francs Hercule coin, minted in 1967, struck under the Fifth Republic and reviving the famous type created by Augustin Dupré. This coin is struck in 900‰ silver, i.e., an alloy composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. Its theoretical weight is 25 g for a diameter of about 37 mm. The weight observed on this coin is 25.1 g. The edge features relief motifs. On the obverse, Hercules is represented standing at the center, clad in the skin of the Nemean Lion and gathering two female figures symbolizing Liberty and Equality. The motto “LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ” surrounds the composition and the signature DUPRÉ is visible. The reverse presents the face value 10 FRANCS and the year 1967, encircled by a crown of leaves, with the inscription “RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE” around the circumference. The coin retains handsome reliefs well marked and perfectly legible, notably on Hercules, the figures, the foliage, the inscriptions, and the signature. It shows a significant old dark patina, with various nuances related to the natural oxidation of the alloy. Some small traces of greenish oxidation are also locally visible. The coin is offered in its current state and has not been cleaned, in order to preserve its patina and surfaces. Its condition appears to be around TTB (Very Very Fine). This assessment is indicative; the coin has not been graded or certified by a professional organization. I am not a professional numismatist. Identification and description have been made as best as possible based on my research and observations. Please study the photographs carefully, which are an integral part of the description and allow an accurate assessment of the coin’s condition, patina, and any signs of wear.
