The two works, executed with different techniques but with the same compositional approach, offer an intimate and direct testimony of Michetti's mature working method in his Francavilla al Mare studio. *1) Self-portrait with hat and pipe* Technique: pastel on ivory paper applied to an original blue antique matting Signature: signed bottom right and dated "27.9.21" Measurements: sheet approx. 10x12 cm on cardboard 20x22 cm Condition: good, light foxing due to age, untouched original paper. Character: swift, nervous stroke, impressionist-inspired. Great luminosity of the face. *2) Self-portrait with hat* Technique: charcoal and fusaggine on straw-yellow paper Measurements: approx. 12x15 cm Condition: good, patina of time, finger-blended tones well preserved. Character: work of great psychological intensity, built with strong chiaroscuro contrasts that bring the face out of the shadow. More dramatic and sculptural. *Critical note:* Works coherent with Michetti's late graphic production, a period in which the artist devoted himself to rapid studies of himself for research on light and expression, alongside photography and pastel.
